A tangible excitement filled the air as students arrived donning traditional attires, their vibrant and colourful garments a testament to the rich tapestry of Nepalese culture. The spirit of unity was further underscored as everyone gathered to commemorate the invaluable contributions of Bhanubhakta Acharya, the man responsible for translating the epic Ramayana from Sanskrit to Nepali.

The event began with a stirring talk on the life and accomplishments of Bhanubhakta Acharya. Focused on educating the audience about the poet's contributions, the narrative was a fascinating journey through the poet's life, capturing the imagination of students and staff alike. As the 'Adikavi' (First Poet) of Nepal, Bhanubhakta's deeds have played a pivotal role in shaping the linguistic and cultural identity of Nepal.

Post the illuminating talk, a ceremonial lamp was lit – a Diya, which in Nepalese culture signifies dispelling darkness and ushering in knowledge and wisdom. This was followed by a captivating song performance, the melodious notes echoing Bhanubhakta's verses and imbuing the atmosphere with a sense of reverence for the poet's timeless work.

The climax of the event was a beautifully choreographed dance performance. The rhythmic harmony and graceful movements of the dancers brought to life the essence of Nepali culture, leaving an indelible imprint on the audience's hearts. The performance was met with a roaring applause, reflecting the deep appreciation for the rich Nepalese heritage.

Bhanu Jayanti is not merely an annual observance, but a powerful reminder of the importance of linguistic and cultural preservation. The celebratory day serves to emphasize the significance of Bhanubhakta's work, his role in making literature accessible to a wider Nepali audience, and his efforts in unifying Nepal under a common language.

The day ended with a heartwarming note of reverence for the legendary poet, with students and faculty expressing their admiration and gratitude for his legacy with a speech by the director of the school. Mr. H. M. Issa, the esteemed founder and director of Rúhíyyih School, was recently honoured with the prestigious "Francis Fanthome Lifetime Achievement Award" by the West Bengal chapter of the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations board. The award recognizes Mr. Issa's outstanding contributions to education, his unwavering commitment to service, and his dedication to promoting equality, diversity, and justice.

In 1985, together with his wife, Mr. Issa established Rúhíyyih School in Jorebunglow, near Ghoom, in the Darjeeling district of West Bengal, India. The school was named in honour of Madam Rúhíyyih Rabbáni, a renowned advocate for education and humanitarian service. Since its inception, Rúhíyyih School has remained dedicated to providing a transformative educational experience that nurtures the physical, intellectual, spiritual, and moral growth of each student.
